Here’s what you need to know about our girls group.

Girls Group Information

If you are a girl aged 11-19 you are welcome to join us.

The group, hosted at Brunswick Youth and Community Centre on Wednesdays between 6:30pm-8:30pm, is a fun place for girls to meet and talk.

Coming to the group costs only 50p per session.

Our qualified team lead discussions on things like:

  • empowerment
  • health and wellbeing
  • peer group relationships
  • food and hygiene
  • sexual health (where appropriate)
  • sexual exploitation of young women (where appropriate)
  • healthy body image
  • diet and nutrition
  • education and schooling
  • careers advice
  • other issues.

Where appropriate, we can help you with signposting to services including MYA Talent Match, C-Card, and others.

As well as this, our group is also very active, using our facilities to keep fit, going on away days (for example, mountain biking in Delamere Forest), and residential personal development weekends.

The Girls Group is led by Lead Youth Workers Lorraine Towers and Catherine Taylor.

Why We Formed the Group

We already have a Junior Kids Club, Senior Youth Club, Outreach, and other activities, so why host a Girls Group?

When we talked to girls in our club they told us that they wanted something different. For some, having boys around can get in the way of meaningful conversations about things that matter.

By listening and respecting each other, our group members have made good friends and improved the quality of their lives both inside and outside of school.

Our mission statement is focussed on helping young people in Bootle and Sefton develop and grow as individuals and members of society.

By offering this group as part of our Children and Young People programme we are able to support people as they progress through adolescence into adulthood.

Who is in Charge?

Lorraine Towers leads our Girls Group team of trained youth workers,  and volunteers. Contact Lorraine on 0151 922 3552 with any questions.
